We can write a CLDC application using Blackberry JDE. This application wont be having any class which extends MIDlet class. For me this CLDC and MIDP app is for a single project. CLDC app is for auto starting a listener for listening to a specific device port. MIDP app is a normal MIDlet application.

After compiling and building the project i have two jad files and two cod(binary of Blackberry) files for deploy. But the user will have to install two binaries for installing a single system.

My question : Is it possible to give a single jad file to the user which will point to multiple cod(or jar) files and install both the cod files.

or any other alternatives for problem

Thanks

Hi All,

Is it possible to bundle a CLDC and MIDP Application together.
I have a CLDC Application and a MIDP Application which is created for Blackberry using J2ME. These two applications are a part of a single system system. So i need to have only one JAD file for downloading both the application in the device.

Appreciate your comments on this requirement.

Thanks in Advance

I would like to add the following feature requirements to the lists.

1. Full J2ME support with debugging.
2. Support for Blackberry JDE in J2ME support module.
3. Display the method body completely in a popup window when user do CTRL+MOUSE OVER on a method call.(similar to eclipse)
4. UI Designer for J2ME UI's like Form, Text Field etc.

Thanks

Hi Pradeep,
This requires some implementation logic. that is it.
you can keep some header parameters like number of images, lenght of each image in bytes etc in the http response. then send all the images one after the other in HTTP body. after reading the reasponse u can get the length of each images and put it into different byte arrays(this can be done by using System.arraycopy()). these byte arrays are the different images. u can pass this byte arrays to Image.createImage method call.

Hope this helps u

Hi Shubha,

I am not sure abt the CREME JVM.
check if it has any Comm Communication API avaiilable in it because MIDP 1.0 doesn't have a CommConnection interface.
Some vendors has their own Comm API for MIDP1.0 mobiles.

URL format for CommConnection in MIDP1.0 is like this
Protocol ort_number;baudrate;bitsperchar;stopbits;parity;autocts;autorts

Example : comm:0;baudrate=38400;bitsperchar=8;stopbits=1;parity=none;autocts=off;autorts=off

Besh of Luck

Hi Shubha,

We have a seperate Comm Communication class available in MIDP2 onwards.
this class would allow you to write and read some data streams to the comm port.
following is a the sample code for the same

private CommConnection commConn = null;
private String CommURL;
private byte[] byPacketData;
private java.io.OutputStream oStream;

public void sendRequest(String strURL,byte[] packetData) {
CommURL = strURL;
byPacketData = packetData;
(new Thread(this)).start();
}

public void run() {
try {
commConn = (CommConnection) Connector.open(CommURL);
oStream = commConn.openOutputStream();
oStream.write(byPacketData);
oStream.flush();
} catch (Exception e) {
System.out.println("Error in connection");
}
}

Hope this helps

Hi All,

I got the Blackberry JDE Controlled API Registration key for automatically stating our application in the Blackberry. (In the reference doc it is mentioned that for auto starting the application we need signed binaries.)

Our application ".cod" files are signed with the installed keys. In the project properties "Auto Run on Startup" is also selected. But the application is not starting up automatically.
In the blackberry emulator it is working fine.

Any guidelines on this are highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi All,
I have downloaded my image from server and writing into RMS using addRecord method of RS. i am passing the image data as byte array. but when i retrieve in and try to render it, it is not creating the image object in Nokia 6600. The same code is working fine in Sun WTK.

Is there any seperate format for writing the images into RMS and reading it out?

Plz respond ASAP

Thanks in Advance

Hi Punit Raizada,

I was not aware of any API which will give u the complete list of JSR's or API's the phone supports.
But, the method i used in my projects for getting the availability of JSR is,

try {
Class.forName("javax.microedition.pim.PIM");
System.out.println("PIM-API: yes");
} catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
System.out.println("PIM-API: no");
}
hope this would help u.

If someone else know better ways plz let us know.

Thanks & Regards,

Thank u Mark.

That is done.
but still IntelliJ shows syntax errors(editor shows red color) in the classpath property of taskdef tag.
below is the taskdef tag of my build.xml file.

<taskdef name="j2mepolish"
classname="de.enough.polish.ant.PolishTask"
classpath="${polish.home}/import/enough-j2mepolish-build.jar:${polish.home}/import/jdom.jar:${polish.home}/import/proguard.jar:${polish.home}/yguard-lib.jar:${wtk.home}/wtklib/kenv.zip"/>

also it shows the same error in almost all tags under j2mepolish tag like info,deviceRequirements,build etc.

but i could run the xml file from IntelliJ itself.

plz suggest some ways to remove this systax highlighting problem

Thanks,
