New version of world's first (and only) open source graphical Java workflow editor fully according to WfMC specifications is
released.

It can be used to edit / view every XPDL file which conforms to WfMC specifications.

The new version brings completely new architecture and L&F with a lot of advanced features.

There are several open source and commercial workflow engines working with JaWE, like Enhydra Shark , WfmOpen, OBE and OfBiz !

Enhydra JaWE has already become the worldwide de-facto standard to edit XPDL files. It participated in WfMC interoperability demo
where it was used to handle XPDLs from Fujitsu, TIBCO and Enhydra Shark engine.

The project is hosted on ObjectWeb, it has a large community, and is highly rated on ObjectWeb.

For the professional users, commercial version called Together Workflow Editor is now available.
You can test it by downloading demo version here.

The shark team is proud to announce the availability of the Enhydra Shark 1.1-2 release.

The engine offers
  • strict adherence to WfMC standards,
  • variety of deployment options (POJO, CORBA, JSP,...)
  • framework reconfigurability/extendibility by in/excluding (or even rewriting) components
  • ability to use many JDBC compliant DB vendors for internal data storage, LDAP for user/group repository and authentication, interoperability to other WF systems,...

  • Version 1.0 has already been proved in many open source and commercial products, you may easily adopt it to whatever environment.

We want to thank to the community for all the contributions, discussions, suggestions, help in shark development ..., which made this version better.

The 1.0 final version of open source workflow engine Enhydra Shark is released.

Shark is an extendable Java workflow engine framework including a standard implementation completely based on WfMC and OMG specifications using XPDL (without any proprietary extensions !) as its native workflow process definition format and the WfMC "ToolAgents" API for serverside execution of system activities.
It has well defined client interface, as well as its internal component interface.

You can look at Enhydra Shark's architecture here

The project is hosted on ObjectWeb, it has a large community, very active mailing list and it is highly rated on ObjectWeb.

To create XPDL definitions that can be executed by Shark, you can use open source graphical Java Workflow Editor Enhydra JaWE.
