question from http://www.geocities.com/sunjava_scjp/Mock2.html

Why is the output "String Buffer added" when String Buffer is assigned "Hai"
in the last line?

Pls explain

Hi,

I am not able to understand why Byte b1= new Byte(1); line generates an error..
Pls explain what am I missing..

Also , I wud like to know how to identify double & float value;
is it that only if explicitly specified 10.0f it is a float,else 10.0 is a double

May be what i m asking is too simple..pls excuse

public class Test12{
public static void main(String a[]){
byte b = 100;
Byte b1= new Byte(1);
Byte b2 = new Byte(b);
System.out.println(b1 == b2);
System.out.println(b1.equals(b2));
}
}
Even if i assign is to a variable as given belowe ,we dont get an error;
Can some one please explain a little more?

class test{

static byte m2(short s) {return 42;}//line 3

public static void main(String [] args){
byte x = m2((short)1);
System.out.println(m2((short)1)); // line 6
}
}
Why does a1.equals(b1) in the following code evaluate to false when contents are equal?
When do 2 stringbuffers .equal return true?

class C {
public static void main (String[] args) {
StringBuffer a1 = new StringBuffer ("red");
StringBuffer b1 = new StringBuffer ("red");
System.out.println(a1.equals(b1));
}}
Hope this helps!!
The compiler creates the default constructor if you have not provided any other constructor in the class. It does not take any arguments. The default constructor calls the no-argument constructor of the superclass. It has the same access modifier as the class.

However, the compiler will not provide the default constructor if you have written at least one constructor in the class

. Constructor can be overloaded, but they are not inherited by subclasses.
Like methods in subclass override methods in superclass, what happens to the variables in subclass when redefined in superclass?

Is there any concept of overriding variables?
