Java Developer 1-3 years overall experience

Position Description

Finance Technology group is closely aligned with the Global Financial Control Group (FCG). FCG is responsible for financial records, ensuring that the assets and liabilities of the Firm are properly controlled, and providing accurate and timely financial information to senior management as well as to statutory and regulatory bodies. The IT team develops software and implements third party applications across a wide range of technologies including the most cutting edge development tools and mainframe technologies. The Finance IT team is looking for developers with a broad skillset focused in the unix environment. The IT group builds multi-tiered applications with much of the business processing done in a java J2EE environment. Many applications are home-grown and deal with high-volume transaction processing or reporting systems. All of the latest technologies are used in the development process.

Skills Required

- Experience (2-5 years) in developing applications using web and server side JAVA applications - Good knowledge of Perl, K-Shell, or other unix/linux scripting languages - Candidate should have good communication skills, both written and oral. He/she will interact with business analysts and users to gather and document requirements during the analysis phase, and interact with other technical staff and management through the complete development lifecycle - The candidate should be self-motivated and have a proven record of managing their own time and work. He/She will need to provide regular status reporting to their manager and be able to assess potential issues and risks to project timelines. - Experience with services-oriented architecture (SOA) and web services - Experience in medium to large scale development projects and teams - Strong project process and methodology

Skills Desired

- Experience working in a distributed client-server environment doing some database development in a large scale RDBMS (Sybase a plus) - Business knowledge including financial applications such as general ledger accounting and other financial products will be a plus - Experience with workflow and business rule processing - Experience with Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) tools - Experience with J2EE, EJB

Position Description
Mid level software developer to work on the development and deployment of a new, front-office, derivatives trading platform as part of the comprehensive renovation of trade capture, pricing, and risk management architecture. The candidate will be responsible for designing, programming, and deploying functionality enhancements in a large, mission critical system. Most of the system is being written in Java and C#, making use of related technologies such as SOAP/XML and MQ. The server components are to be deployed on a Linux platform with user interfaces on Windows and with Sybase on the backend. This position provides an opportunity for rapid growth and learning from close exposure to the business in a global leader for derivatives trading. The candidate will join a global team with members in London, New York and Tokyo. There is ample opportunity for contact with the trading desks and other parts of the firm.

Position Description
Java developer to participate in new development of multi-asset trading platform for Fixed Income Business. The developer will be working in a fast paced, dynamic and creative environment on a large-scale project to develop a new generation trading platform for OTC derivatives to support Credit, Interest Rates, Commodities and FX businesses. The candidate will be responsible for functional requirements gathering, design, programming, testing and deploying system to production. The candidate will primarily be doing server side development in Java.

Skills Required
Strong with server side Java and relational databases. Experience with distributed N-tier systems and middleware technologies. Experience with XML standards and XML based languages. Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work directly with end-users.

Skills Desired
Experience with Spring and Hibernate, DB2 an advantage. Experience in financial industry specifically in the areas of Fixed Income or Equities Derivatives is a significant advantage. Any experience with complex trade/product modelling is an advantage

I am currently staffing 10 positions for an investment bank in New York. In order to qualify for any of these positions you need to have Equity Trading Applications Support experience.

    There is a short term assignment available in NY for someone with Java Server Page (JSP) and Java Server Faces (JSF) experience.
