Hello all,

I took the SCJP 5.0 exam last week and I readily agree with Ariel that the exam was pretty tough and I too found the topics - Thread and Generics - to be pretty tricky and tough.

Just write as much test code as possible, esp on new areas such as Generics and Autoboxing / Unboxing.

Keeping my fingers crossed and waiting for the results.

Good luck to all those preparing for this exam.

Shankar.

Hi,

What I meant was to write lots of test code by yourself and try to figure out the acceptable ways to write generic code.

I refered to the tutorial by Gilad bracha and also wrote some test code to understand the basics of generic types.

HTH,
Shankar.
Hello all,

I took the BETA version of SCJP 5.0 and I should say it was a long and difficult test. The good part was there were interesting drag n drop questions and you don't get to see the results immediately .

Does anyone know when will Sun publish / mail the results to the test takers?

Good luck to all those who are planning / preparing to take the test.

Hi Guys,

I took the Beta exam today and it was a long and hard test. I found generic type questions to be pretty difficult. I would suggest whoever is preparing to go for the beta to try out various examples. It really helps.

Let me know if you guys have any questions.

Thanks guys. I used the following materials for my preparation.

a. Head First EJB
b. EJB 2.0 Specification

for Mock exams , I referred to the following sites:

a. ejbcertificate.com
b. jdiscuss.com
c. SCBCD questions, compiled from what was posted at javaranch.com.

Apart from the tests present in the above links, I took the head first mock test.

What Next?

Preparing for SCWCD and Head first Servlets and JSP is helping me out a great deal.

Hi everyone,

Cleared SCBCD; scoring 88% with 62 answers correct out of the total 70. Head first EJB was THE guide that helped me through this exam. Thank you Kathy and Bert.

Apart from this book, I referred to the EJB 2.0 specification for certain objectives.

I scored 81% in the head first mock exam and 82% in the mock exam from ejbcertificate.com.

Now time to dive in to SCWCD.

Rgds,

Shankar
