I would like to have it also. But refer to Bert Bates's post

Actually both of those books would be very low on our list of books we'd like to write.

From PMP handbook

During an audit, candidates will be asked to submit supporting documentationm, such as copies of their diploma/global equivalent, signatures of their supervisor(s) or manager(s) from the projects(s) documented on the Experience Verification Forms, and copies of certificates or letters from the training institute(s) for each course submitted to meet the required 35 contact hours of project management education.

Jennifer,

Thanks for providing the free practice exam. I downloaded it just now and will try it later.
Pradip,

Estimating project timeline is not only PM's job. It is team work, contributed by project management team. It also based on historical information (eg. previous completed projects), expert judgment and etc.
Pradip,

Who verifies the project management hours experience ?

PMI randomly check the information you submitted.
Paul, Thanks, I will try the free trial download software for PMP from Whizlabs.
PMP stands for "Project Management Professional". It developed by PMI. To be eligible for a PMP credential, you must meet specific guidelines that objectively measure experience, education and professional knowledge.

Applicants must have 35 hours of specific project management education.
With a Bachelors Degree (or the global equivalent): Applicants must have a minimum three years professional project management experience, during which 4,500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks, up to eight years from the time of application.
Without a Bachelors Degree (or the global equivalent): Applicants must have a minimum five years professional project management experience, during which at least 7,500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks, up to eight years from the time of application.

It is for either technical guys or non technical guys. A lot of technical guys don't want to bother with people. They just concentrate on technical things. But if you want to be PM and get the PMP cert, you should like to manage people. Because most of PM jobs are to manage different kind of stakeholders.
The official web site is www.pmi.org, you can find all the information from that.
Andrew, thanks a lot for your reply. That is very interesting, I will buy a copy of it. I totally agree with your point

it's very difficult to manage a software project if you don't understand how software works and is built.

Thanks, Davis, I will try it.
Both MBA and PMP require general management skills (planning, accounting, and etc) and interpersonal skills (leadership, motivating, communicating, and etc).
PRINCE2 provides method which is the de-facto standard for project management in the UK, so is popular in European countries.
I am a SW Developer and have some project management experience, would like to improve my project management skill and become a PMP.

Does this book provide case study, which can be apply to real job easily?

Does it provide practice exam questions which can simulate the full PMP exam?

If you have less project management experience, you can apply Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).

The path is CAPM -> PMP -> PgMP. But they are not prerequisites. You can directly apply PgMP if you have enough experience.
