I've been working with C# on PocketPC and Windows, and am thinking of getting into Java.
I was wondering what the possibilities are for Java databases running on PocketPC PDAs. From the reading I've been doing, there are some commercial possibilities, including Pointbase. But I don't want to spend a lot of money right now; Pointbase, for instance, seems quite expensive.
Is HSQL the only non-commercial possibility for PocketPC development? Are there any others that people would recommend?
I'd love to run Cloudscape/Derby on a PocketPC, but I can't quite tell if this is currently possible and/or practical. The PDAs I'm thinking of would be fairly up-to-date machines (a Toshiba e755, for instance). The applications would be dealing with up to a dozen tables, maybe 2000 records at the very most.
Thanks for your help.
