Can anybody suggest a good book on Portal development?
I feel DMZ is semi-secure. A DMZ is a computer host or a small network that sits between the Internet and the company's private network like a buffer. But a DMZ does not sit outside the firewall. Infact, even the DMZ is inside the firewall. Any outside user can access the DMZ but it cannot access the data in the company's private network.

Hi
I am doing my part II assignment.
How are you guys showing the EJB s in the class and sequence diagram? Do you show the remote interface, the home interface and the Bean itself?
I have been showing all three but it clutters up the diagram a lot. The alternative would be to create a stereotype for Entity Bean and Session Bean and show them in the diagram. But what is the commonly used way of showing EJB s?
Are there any sites that have a sample UML design of a J2EE application with UML class or sequence diagram?

Thanks.
Robert
Hi Amanda
Congratulations on your great score.
Does anybody know of any free modelling tool that I can download from the Web ?

Thanks.
Robert
I want to refer to the book as I am designing an application at my work here. I went through the J2EE patterns at the Sun Site but I always had questions whenever I tried to apply the patterns to the project. The new book with examples can clear a lot of the doubts.
I also plan to start with my Part II but I've been postponing it for a long time. I want to start it this week.
Robert
Thanks.
If it covers design issues in addition to patterns and has some examples for the patterns, then its definitely worth spend money on.

Hi everybody,
Has anybody read the book "Core J2EE(TM) Patterns: Best Practices and Design Strategies " by John Crupi, Deepak Alur, et al ?
How is the content different from what is at the J2EE Patterns Catalog ?
Is it worth buying the book or can we get most of the information from J2EE Pattern catalog ?
Thanks.
Robert
Hi Everybody
I cleared the Part 1 exam today. Thanks to all the pointers that I found in this site. They were all very helpful in preparing for the exam.

Hi Everybody,
I find this a very useful Discussion forum and find a lot of Pointers to Useful information to prepare for the Test.
Can somebody tell me where can I find some practice tests similar to this Exam ? I understand that Brainbench has one on EJB but it is not free anymore.
Brainbench has a Test on OO Design Patterns that is free.
Thanks.
Hi All
I am planning to start preparing for SUN CERTIFIED ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT exam. Can somebody tell me how to go about it ? I have experience of designing systems using UML and designing/developing for Distributed systems. I have worked with MTS/DCOM and CORBA and I have a good experience of Java, but I have never worked with EJBs before. I am an MCSD and Sun Certified Programmer. I have recently started looking into EJB for the past month.
What is the best and efficient path I can follow to prepare for the examination ? Read Richard Monson-Haefel and Erich Gamma cover to cover ?
I would appreciate any suggestions for the above.
Thanks.
Robert
