Thanks for repley, but the Sun Java System Application Platform's samples dont't come with
jndi.properties, either the j2eetutorial samples...
What about my 3 questions?...
Hello Everyone, I am using the Sun's RI (J2EE1.4 y Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8 update 1), I created one cliente to access my EJB.

a)When I run my EJB client in this way:
java -cp .;adviceEarClient.jar AdviceClient1
where AdviceClient1 is the client class and adviceEarClient.jar containts stubs for the client.
I recive an error like:
--------------------------
javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environmen
t or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource f
ile: java.naming.factory.initial
at javax.naming.spi.NamingManager.getInitialContext(Unknown Source)
at javax.naming.InitialContext.getDefaultInitCtx(Unknown Source)
at javax.naming.InitialContext.getURLOrDefaultInitCtx(Unknown Source)
at javax.naming.InitialContext.lookup(Unknown Source)
at AdviceClient1.main(AdviceClient1.java:13)
---------------------------------------------------
b)But when I run it in this way (using appclient):
appclient -client adviceEarClient.jar
it work.

c)Here is my code:
Context initial = new InitialContext();
Object o = initial.lookup("MyAdviceBean"); // <--- here is the error
AdviceHome h =(AdviceHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(o, AdviceHome.class);
Advice adv = home.create();

My questions are:
1) Why
java -cp .;adviceEarClient.jar AdviceClient1
dont't work, but
appclient -client adviceEarClient.jar
does?

2) I saw some book use a property o hashtable to create the initial context, something like
Hashtable props = new Hashtable();
props.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,
"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
props.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "t3://weblogic:7001");
props.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "fred");
props.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "seafood");
Context initial = new InitialContext(props);

what are the values for Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY and Context.PROVIDER_URL in the case of the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8 update 1??
Hello? Or in any other forum is the question appropiate for?
Hi Cris, I agree with your idea, but I think you are wrong in your explanation
********************************
As, in this case the String object has no
setHello() method, nothing happens,
-----------------
********************************

I think you should say setMystring() method.

This is because the user enter the parameter "mystring=hello" in the request line!!
I want constraint my resource be secure, but I don't want use the tomcat-users.xml, instead I want use a table of a database, how do I do?

Other question, when I constraint a resource (/start) with data constraint CONFIDENTIAL, the web server (in this case Tomcat) turn the url to HTTPS, that is ok, but in this point in forward, all request I do, use HTTPS, what can I do if I ONLY want the initial resource (/start)use the HTTPS, and the others HTTP?

Thanks in advance.
And can I modify the classloader path?
12 years ago
Hi friends, when I use a own class in my JSP, and when this class isn't in any package, the tomcat can't found my class, why?

webapps\
mywpp\
WEB-INF\
web.xml
mytest.jsp
classes\
MyClass.class

In mytest.jsp, I can't acces my myClass:
<%MyClass mc = new MyClass(); %> ==> Error.(But in a servlet I can do it.)

When I put my class in a package, it does:
webapps\
mywpp\
WEB-INF\
web.xml
mytest.jsp
classes\
mypack\
MyClass.class

In this case,, in mytest,jsp, I can do

<% mypack.myClass = new mypack.myClass(); %> ==> OK

It is a bug of Tomcat?
Thanks in advance for the answer.

Regard.

Paul, my additional question for you is, what EJB Container (o J2EE Server) you use in your new book?
Hello Paul, I would like you can answear me if I can developer EJB without tools, I mean, I can write my EJB, compile it, and deploy it in any EJB Container? O they require some extra configuration depend the EJB Container (o J2EE Server) I use?

Best Regard.
Carlos.
