Main responsibilities

Managing the design and development of software applications.

Providing technical input to project planning and implementation.

Leading, managing and mentoring the software development team.

Maintaining and developing software development team policies and tools.

Skills - Essential

Strong team leadership, mentoring, communication and inter-personal skills with previous experience of leading a development team and managing projects.

At least six years commercial development experience using Java and J2EE.

Experience of application servers (JBOSS) and deployment processes.

Able to effectively manage own as well as others� time.

Strong OOA/D Skills with experience of applying common methods and patterns to architectural problems.

Experience of Software Quality Control frameworks, processes and tools (Ant, CVS).

Skills - Ideal

Front-end development (Struts, Swing, JSP).

Database administration and design, specifically PostGreSQL, including persistency APIs and frameworks such as Hibernate and JDBC.

XML including associated technologies, such as XSD, XSL etc.

See edited original post for job specification. Not involved in salary negotiation so I can't really comment, but it's roughly what you'd expect for this kind of grade, obviously depending on the candidate as well.
