Code Ranch Release Notes

The forums at coderanch run on a heavily customized version of JForum. The code is developed and maintained by the coderanch staff (who are volunteers just like everyone else in the forums). From time to time the coderanch staff fixes bugs or introduces new features in the forum software. These changes are then deployed to the production servers.

The page here lists the release notes of each release that has been pushed to production. We would like to thank everyone who's been involved in maintaining the forum software.

Released on 4/3/2014:

Martin - support for retiring closed accounts that violate naming policy

Jaikiran - fix dailyish email popover for permies (sister site)

Released on 3/29/2014:

Andrew - another Gamma-ray burster fix

Andrew - administrative support for managing permissions

Jeanne - one's own posts are not shown in the zero replies view

Jeanne - make zero replies view public

Jeanne - fix mistakenly hidden leaderboard on beta view

Jeanne - allow sorting in the list of user's flagged threads in beta view

Jeanne - add a note that tt can use abbreviations

Andrew - additional register for Steam powered printing press

Martin - apply i and tt tag styles correctly in beta view

Martin - adjust permission control admin screen

Tim Cooke (integrated by Jeanne) - specify starting line number in code tags

Jeanne - replace stored procedure for javaranch home page with regular SQL

• ignore "this site" category
• sort posts by time
• hide column containign reply count (as it contains only zero by definition)

Andrew - administrative support for granting cows to groups of users

Jeanne - add navigation sidebar to the beta view pages which missed one

Jeanne - make flags in topics and forum listings closer together

Jaikiran - add support for showing announcements in the beta view

Jaikiran - underline anchor links in post text in the beta view

Jeanne - provide view to see topics with zero replies (not available to public yet)

Jaikiran - mark topic as unread is now available for topics in the beta view

Jaikiran - a generic support for success/failure type of message notifications for (AJAX) actions in the beta view

Andrew - fix for a bug affecting forum software developers

Jaikiran - fix the banner redirection links for banners displayed at the end of the thread in beta view

Released on 1/11/2014:

Jeanne - prevent multiple purple messages being sent when a post is put on probation by different moderators

Jeanne - activate watch on topic when a flag is added (for users who have subscribed to watch threads when posting)
