January 2023 Edition
Howdy from all the CodeRanch staff, and welcome to the January edition of the Journal. This month I decided to ask ChatGPT to help me write the journal. I'll share the prompts I used (in italics) and the ChatGPT results. I also included some commentary on some of my failed attempts. I had more than one chat session going so I could get different answers and chose the best. My helper did a pretty good job. Here we go.

write a paragraph describing jumpin jforum day at coderanch using a western accent - Failed to recognize what jumpin jforum day was. I tried a few other failed attempts. They all described the forums, but not what JForum Day was for. I then gave a superdetailed prompt and let ChatGPT handle turning it into a pargraph and adding western words.
using a western accent, write a paragraph congratulating the forum software's 14th birthday including a link to https://coderanch.com/t/424504/Happy-Year. include that we introduce a new feature every year on that day with a link to https://coderanch.com/wiki/659923/Reading-Ranch-JForum - I had made a typo and written "CodeARanch" the first time. ChatGPT decided that was a term and used it in later replies I had to start a new chat to fix that problem.
Well howdy there, it's a big day at CodeRanch! Today we're celebratin' the 14th birthday of our mighty fine forum software! That's right, 14 years of helpin' all you Java enthusiasts come together and discuss the latest happenin's in the world of Java programming. Include a link to https://coderanch.com/t/762295/Happy-Jumpin-JForum-Day-read - I spelled "announce" wrong, but ChatGPT still did a good job
